Who are you? Tell us a little about yourself? Maybe something that would surprise us :)I’m probably the cheapest, most tightfisted, stingy, frugal person you know…:) I love sales, discounts and closeouts but hate to pay retail! ;( Show me a discount on something I want to buy and it’ll make my day! I like to buy and fix up houses - the uglier and the more they stink the better I like them! Then I make them beautiful again - to me it’s very satisfying!
How long have you been a Behemoth member and how did you hear about us?I joined Behemoth in April of 2021 and went on the unlimited plan last October. I also do one-on-one training with Aja - so I’m sometimes in the gym 8 times a week - eek! Originally I googled CrossFit gyms in Cypress and found this gem of a gym only a mile from my house!
What are some of your proudest accomplishments since starting with us? (this can be physical, mental, emotional, don’t just think inside the gym, this can be anything you truly feel great about!)When I first joined - I felt intimidated, unsure and lacked confidence. However the B- gym community has been like a family to me, kind, encouraging and supportive - coming into the gym and saying hi to friends and newcomers is one of the highlights of my day, I really miss the interaction when I’m away for a few days (or weeks!) traveling. I ran my first ever 5K in the spring and will complete a 10K soon. I’m aiming to run a half then full marathon next year. I now feel comfortable, confident and in charge of my fitness journey!
Talk a little bit about your journey, who were you or what were you struggling with before starting with Behemoth and who are you now since being a part of this gym culture and community?I believe that to do anything in life you must truly commit to it. Pre pandemic I was tired, demoralized, weighed in at 265 lbs and had never worked out. Today I'm pleased to say I weigh 231 lbs but am also fit and strong enough to hike and climb all week long in the mountains of South Africa and keep up with my 19 year old son doing it! I feel renewed and refreshed, ready to truly live an active and fulfilling life.
What is your favorite part about Behemoth and what keeps you coming back? It’s the people! The B-Gym family. The coaches, the regulars and the newcomers - a funnier, more friendly bunch one could scarcely imagine!
What is one piece of advice you’d give to someone just starting out with Behemoth or maybe hesitant in starting out?Just DECIDE to do this. Then come in regularly and consistently and you WILL succeed!
