Who are you? Tell us a little about yourself? Maybe something that would surprise us :)

My name is Kurt Kennedy. Originally from a small farm town in Missouri where I was born and raised. Went to college in Fl and then moved to Houston in 2008. I am married to my wife Hannah and we have pretty awesome terrier mix dog. We own an automotive repair shop in Tomball Texas and I have been I the automotive industry since I was 15 years old.

How long have you been a Behemoth member and how did you hear about us?

I've been a member off and on for about 6-7 years now. Went I first got into Crossfit back in 2009-ish, I me Aja and Aryan at a regionals contest and thought it was the coolest thing. I Reached out to them after regionals and bugged them to look at my lifting videos, help me with nutrition and basically annoy them. Years later I was able to join the gym and fell In love with the gym, coaches and community.

Talk a little bit about your journey, who were you or what were you struggling with before starting with Behemoth and who are you now since being a part of this gym culture and community?

Back in 2008 when I got into CrossFit and weightlifting, I lost some weight and it turned into a lifestyle for me. Working out twice a day, competing in competitions, doing the Zone diet (I really just aged myself there) after many years of that, I lost the enjoyment of working out. During that time, I slowly stopped working out, making poor food and lifestyle choices and ended up gaining a bunch of weight over the years and got myself into some pretty poor health. After some pretty harsh realities with my health, and realizing it was all self induced by poor lifestyle choices, I decided to take control and start working out again. It took me a little while, but sought out individual help from the coaches and support from the community. I look forward to working out again and its fun.

What is your favorite part about Behemoth and what keeps you coming back?

The community, coaches and atmosphere. I also really appreciate the individual attention that I have received getting back into the gym. This has really helped me to continue to pursue my goals. I'm down over 50 lbs and have drasitical lowered my blood glucose! This has made a huge impact and helped me improve my consistency drastically! It truly is a very unique gym and its awesome!

What is one piece of advice you’d give to someone just starting out with Behemoth or maybe hesitant in starting out?

Contrary to what you will be thinking, Everyone here from the other members to coaches all want to see you succeed and hit your goals, not matter what they are and they are all more than willing to help you and encourage you and be on the journey with you.
