Meet Dipti, our I AM BSHEmoth for the month of February. As a current mom and 7 months pregnant with baby #2, Dipti has set an amazing example for her family and others in our community on making fitness a priority. She knows that a strong, fit mom yields strong, fit children!Who are you? Tell us a little about yourself or something that would surprise us.Dipti Patel, I am 31 years old, proud wife and mother to a 3.5 year old boy and future girl (due date April). I was born and raised in Panama. I moved to the USA when I was 20 year old to finish my undergraduate studies at Florida State University. Once I was done with college I moved to NYC for work where I lived there for 5 years. I got married in 2012 and moved to Sacramento, California where my husband lived at that time. Once our son was born we decided to move to Houston to be closer to family so our son can grow up with his cousins. Yes, I know I have moved a lot! ☺How and when were you introduced to Behemoth? It was my husband who actually told me about Behemoth, he joined for few months in early 2015, but he had to find a different workout alternative since he travels a lot for work. In September of 2015, I decided to check out Behemoth because I was looking for something different. I have noticed that I enjoy working out in a group setting and being committed to a specific time to hold my self-accountable.What are you most proud of, physically, mentally or both since beginning with us?Mentally, I have learned that if I set my mind to do something I can achieve it. There are just so many excuses I can make or telling myself I can’t do it because the workout looks difficult. Once I complete the workout I feel great that I did it. I try to teach my son that he is capable to do anything he wants. I want to be the best role model I can be for my kids.Physically, I have been able to do a lot more than what I used to. I don’t feel as tired as I used to and my endurance level has increased. It’s funny because if I don’t work out for few days I feel more tired and my body hurts. That’s my body telling me move and be active. Why Behemoth?I like the Coaches. When I first started I saw so many members with different skill levels. I liked the fact that everyone was working on skills at their own pace with the proper progression level. I love the fact that the coaches emphasis doing the skill properly vs. pushing me to do something that I am not physically able to do at that moment. As I mentioned before, I like working out in a group setting. I love how everyone is encouraging to each other.Thank you Leah, Aja and Aryan for building such a great environment, culture and community. What next? What are you excited about pursuing here in the future? My goals is to continue building my endurance and get stronger. My future goal is to be able to do a pushup from the ground and a strict pull up.“3, 2, 1…Go” Mad Lib sectionMy favorite lift is…Back SquatMy most frequent class I come to is…Before pregnancy it was 6am, however now its 9:30amI have always wanted to…Travel the world and do adventurous things like they do on Amazing Race with my husband. When I’m not crushing weights, my favorite thing to do is…Spend time with my family and travel, creating memories with themFavorite “application of fitness” outside of the gym is…Being strong enough to do things myself first without asking for help.
