Who are you? Tell us a little about yourself? Maybe something that would surprise us :)

My name is Jordan Pettus. I come from a small town and grew up in the country. Something you might now know about me is that I have been riding horses and rodeoing since I was in the 2nd grade. I am a die hard Aggie and proud memeber of the Fightin’ Texas Aggie class of 2018. I love listening to Country music, fishing and hunting.

How long have you been a Behemoth member and how did you hear about us?

I have been going to Behemoth since January of 2021

How has being apart of Behemoth impacted your life? What are some of your proudest accomplishments since starting with us? (this can be physical, mental, emotional, don’t just think inside the gym, this can be anything you truly feel great about!)

Being a part of Behemoth has changed me in more than just one way. I initially joined to see certain physical results but gained so much more. I have always known that this journey I’m on is a lifestyle and not a quick fix. I try to remind myself not to get fixated on the end results but the journey I’m on. There will always be ebbs and flows, but I have learned to trust the process. Accepting my body is a big part of that. Everybody seems to get caught up in comparing themselves to one another, but what we don’t realize is that everyone has something that they don’t like about themselves that we can’t see. Over the last few weeks I have slowly started to accept myself for who I am and stop comparing myself to others. Behemoth has also given me a way to mentally and emotionally deal with the stress that comes along in everyday life. This gym and the people I have met have given me the courage and confidence to carry myself in ways I never could have by myself.

Talk a little bit about your journey, who were you or what were you struggling with before starting with Behemoth and who are you now since being a part of this gym culture and community?

Back in 2016 I started working out pretty regularly in college. I was going to the gym 5-6x a week and meal prepping every Sunday. Once I graduated from Texas A&M and moved to Houston to work I realized how much a struggle it became just trying to get to the gym 3x a week. I noticed that because I was traveling so far to work by the time I got home I had no energy to workout, much less eat healthy. I eventually stopped working out and was eating out all the time. I soon realized how unhealthy I felt and wanted to find a place where I could enjoy working out like I did in College Station. I tried out several gyms LifeTime, 24 Hour Fitness, Orange Theory, and F45 but at the end of the day none of them felt like the right fit for me. After a lot of thought I decided I want to try CrossFit gym and after a lot of research I stumbled across Behemoth online. After meeting all the coaches, gym partners, and seeing what the workout consisted of I knew I had found the place where I belonged. Since joining Behemoth I have found a community and culture that is inclusive, supportive, and caring. Everyone truly cares about one another and wants to see you do your best not only at the gym but in your personal life.

What is your favorite part about Behemoth and what keeps you coming back?

My favorite part about Behemoth is friends I have made that have turned into family. I love how everyone is so supportive and encouraging when finishing a workout.

What is one piece of advice you’d give to someone just starting out with Behemoth or maybe hesitant in starting out?

I would tell anyone starting out at Behemoth that you have to give yourself time to be able to learn the movements, perfecting your form, and going up in weights. Learning everything doesn’t happen overnight and you want to focus on the journey, not some much the destination.
