Meet Sergio, our I am Behemoth for the month of August! Sergio has made some huge strides of improvement in his health and fitness since he began his journey with Behemoth and it has been inspiring to watch him lead by example inside and outside of the gym.Who are you? Tell us a little about yourself or something that would surprise us.For the people who don’t know me, I’m Canadian born and raised, moved to Texas in 2008. Growing up throughout my school years, I was the overweight and out of shape, I hit 250lbs. In my last year of high school I decided to join, the military (yes…Canadian Army). I started working out and training to get into the army, lost 60lbs that summer through changing my eating and making fitness and health a priority in my life. How and when were you introduced to Behemoth? My girlfriend Kim introduced me to Behemoth, back in 2014. She raved about how much fun she had, so being a little skeptical I had to try it. I have not looked back since; I guess I liked the Kool-Aid too. What are you most proud of, physically, mentally or both since beginning with us?Wow, that is tough to narrow down. Most proud of physically would be my improved flexibility in my shoulders after having total re-constructive surgery in 2013 from years of training. Competing in the 2016 Open Master Scaled Division. Mentally, that would have to be getting past, my “I can’t mind set” when it came to jumping rope (double unders coming soon…) and other skilled movements (requiring balance, coordination or kipping). Why Behemoth? At first it had to be it was close to home and my girlfriend Kim was a member, but now it would have to be the coaching staff and the members. What next? What are you excited about pursuing here in the future?2018 Open Masters - with that said… Being able to do muscle up (strict/kip), handstand pushup (strict/kip) and stringing double unders together….“3, 2, 1…Go” Mad Lib sectionMy favorite lift (movement) is…Squats or deadlifts hard to pick…not burpeesMy most frequent class I come to is…Depends the weather, 6 or 7pm in the summer (too hot at 5pm…) and 5pm in the winter/fallI have always wanted to…So many things on this list:Crossfit related would have to be muscle up, handstand pushup, rope climbLearn to SurfBackpack thru Europe and AustraliaRide across the US on a motorbikeTravel to six of the seven continentsWhen I’m not crushing weights, my favorite thing to do is…Rest and recovery, I enjoy travelling, like to play rugby, DIY projects…Favorite “application of fitness” outside of the gym is…I enjoy doing OCR (obstacle course races) such as Spartan Races…Favorite Pandora station…Hard Rock Strength Training Radio or 90s RadioBeast mode engaged when this song comes on…Wow too many choices…here are a fewMonster – SkilletBodies - Drowning PoolDown with the Sickness - DisturbedAnimal I Have Become / The Good Life / Pain - Three Days GraceI Stand Alone / Cryin Like A Bitch - Godsmack
