Marsha is our spotlight BSHEmoth for the month of February! It has been a joy watching Marsha transform into the athlete she is today, as well as seeing how she inspires everyone around her to be bigger and better versions of themselves. Take a read below to get to know her better!-Who are you? Tell us a little about yourself or something that would surprise us.I started my own business in the oil & gas industry 22 years ago. My client base is 100% international so this has afforded me the opportunity to travel extensively. I believe in saving animals, protecting children, acts of kindness and paying it forward. Genuine, accountable, honest people are who I choose to surround myself with. I have an adventuresome streak in me and do not fear the unknown.-How and when were you introduced to Behemoth?Lee McLaren invited me and Fernando to the opening of the current location in April, 2013. I knew little about CrossFit and was curious so went to find out what it was all about. I thought there would be demonstrations but wore gym clothes in case we were asked to participate. Well, we participated and I couldn’t move for about 2 days! I told my husband we are going to do this!-What are you most proud of, physically, mentally or both since beginning with us?I learned early on that CrossFit will prepare you for most sports and activities outside the gym. The first year I ran a half marathon without training for it. The second year conquered the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu. The Inca Trail was by far the most physically challenging thing I’ve ever done. 31 miles up and down mountains dealing with altitude, multiple climate changes all the while maintaining the fortitude to keep moving forward and stay focused on every step.-Why Behemoth?I have a great admiration for our coaches who definitely lead by example. Their comprehensive approach, attention to detail and genuine concern for our health and well being sets Behemoth apart from other gyms. Also, the Behemoth family is a wonderful group of individuals and such a positive force to be a part of.-What next? What are you excited about pursuing here in the future?I’m excited to see where my nutritional challenge will take me. So far I’m feeling energized and more focused. I’m intrigued by the complexity of the Snatch and I’d like to make this lift look as smooth and effortless as our coaches. I had better get busy!“3, 2, 1…Go” Mad Lib section-My favorite lift (movement) is…Lift: Snatch, Movement: Wall Balls-My most frequent class I come to is…6:00pm-I have always wanted to…Base Jump from Angel Falls in Venezuela-When I’m not crushing weights, my favorite thing to do is…Cook, spend time with my husband and pups. Fishing is also a favorite pastime.-Favorite “application of fitness” outside of the gym is… Working on projects at the lake such as swinging a pick axe, digging up stumps or hauling dirt in the wheelbarrow. There’s always something to do.-Favorite Pandora station…Hard Rock Strength Training Radio-Beast mode engaged when this song comes on… Sorry folks but I have a list:The Exies – My GoddessGodsmack – Cryin’ Like a BitchRob Zombie – Thunder Kiss ‘65Audioslave – CochiseSeether – GasolinePowerman 5000 – When Worlds Collide
